The focus of MVAA Softball is on growth and development of the young female athletes in our community. Our goal and aspiration is that each of the girls become strong individuals through honor, respect and appreciation of family, team and community. MVAA’s purpose is to instill each player to become a better stronger person through the opportunities provided in the softball program. Every year it is exciting to see the athletes learn the fundamentals and enjoy participating and competing in an organized sport. Our objective is to increase interest, appreciation and knowledge of the game, and simultaneously develop positive social values, character traits, citizenship, and physical and mental health. The MVAA Softball program strives to teach the competitive spirit to win and the courage to accept defeat, with emphasis on clean play, safety, and sportsmanlike conduct.

Overview
Age Levels
MVAA Softball players are divided into 4 age groups: 8 and under (8U), 9-10 year olds (10U), 11-12 year olds (12U) and 13-15 year olds (15U). Each age group has different rules. For more information, visit the MVAA Softball website.
Spring Season
The Spring Season is generally more competitive, with an All Star Game and Playoffs at the end of the season. Teams play 12 games (usually 2 games per week) before playoffs begin. When the season starts, there are usually less practices since Spring games usually follow the same schedule as the practices.
Fall Season
The Fall Season is generally more instructional, which is best for girls new to the sport. Teams play 8 games (usually 1 game per week on Sundays) with no playoffs. There is usually more practice time than games.
Equipment
All age groups require a glove and a face mask. Ages 10 and up recommend a batting helmet, bat, cleats, batting gloves and sliding shorts. See the Equipment section on the For Parents page.

It is our goal to provide an environment where your daughter is given the opportunity to participate in a competitive and recreational game of softball. The vision of the MVAA is to mold and shape your daughter to understand and display leadership, discipline, integrity, hard work, and personal courage. All of these attributes are necessary commitments to play at her highest caliber.
Playing softball or any sport at a very young age enables your daughter to participate in social interactions and build skills such as teamwork, leadership, and responsibilities as she learns to work with others to achieve a common goal. This type of setting allows your daughter to develop and practice different mental and moral qualities she will acquire from her surroundings on and off the field.
Being part a of a team with similar goals will increase your daughter's value of herself. What she contributes to the team – whether it be in leadership position or in fulfilling an important role – will ultimately contribute to the boost in her self-esteem and her confidence.
Teamwork is a skill your daughter will use for years to come, so it is important for her to learn the basics early. Softball or any sport provides your daughter important lessons in team dynamics. Everyone must work together to achieve their goals, and allow the team to sort through each others strengths and weaknesses to decide what strategy works best for the team.
Playing softball or any sport requires your daughter to be disciplined in tactical, mental and physical aspects. In order to succeed in sports she must have self-restraint, and behave in a controlled and precise manner. Good discipline translates to life situations in order to achieve goals and reach her fullest potential.
