Remsberg Park - Project New Horizon 2030

Project New Horizon 2030Our community has grown significantly in recent years, and our existing resources are no longer sufficient to meet our current needs. As of today, there are no indoor sports facilities that are available through Frederick County Parks and Recreation. Furthermore, there are no plans by the county to build such facilities. We are in desperate need of multiple-purpose fields and a complex to hold indoor sports. This complex will not only be available to MVAA and its athletes but also to other community activities. Therefore, we are starting a fundraising campaign to build an indoor facility and additional outdoor fields, and this initiative is called Project New Horizon: Remsberg Park 2030.

Remsberg Park

In 2010, the Town of Middletown purchased a local farm with the intent of developing a community park with a focus on youth sports fields.

The 87-acre park currently features:

  • 3 Multi-purpose fields
  • 2 Baseball fields
  • Pavilion
  • Playground
  • Pickleball courts
  • Restrooms

Over the past 17 years, we have fundraised on a local level and received generous support. We have also been a recipient of POS funds through the State of Maryland.

About the MVAA

Founded in 1971, the Middletown Valley Athletic Association (MVAA) is a non-profit organization that sponsors a variety of sports programs for youth in our community.

Currently, the MVAA hosts 12 sports with over 2,100 participants, many of whom participate in sports year-round:

  • Baseball
  • Basketball
  • Competitive and Recreational Cheerleading
  • Field Hockey
  • Football
  • Girls Flag Football
  • Boys and Girls Lacrosse
  • Soccer
  • Softball
  • Wrestling

Our mission is to:

  • Teach the fundamentals of each sport
  • Promote participation in organized leagues
  • Foster personal growth through competition
  • Develop character, good citizenship, and health

We emphasize clean play, safety, sportsmanship, and the will to win with courage to accept defeat.
